Popcorn – Good Training Treats For The Dog
It is not uncommon for dog owners to be very vocal in their professed love for the pet. In a lot of cases, dogs are not considered as pets but as members of the family. Being a family member, the dogs will participate in all the activities of the family and taken wherever the family goes. The pet dog will be seen sleeping with the family and sharing with the food the family eats.
Sharing human food with the pet dog is an act of kindness of the human family. Some human foods though have dangerous effects to dogs. After all, if the food is good for humans it must be good for the pet as well. The truth is, some human foods cannot be tolerated by the dog’s system.
A lot of dog owners allow the dog to eat popcorn. Expect the pet of a popcorn-loving family to love this snack too. The dog will be seen lying on the feet of the master or lounging with the kid on the couch while the family is watching TV. As what is common, a large bowl of popcorn will be on the table thus popcorn will be tossed to the pet every now and then.
Popcorn is actually one of the humans food that can be safely consumed by the pet. Popcorn is not one of the human foods that cannot be tolerated by the dog’s system thus this snack can be safely given to the pet. Dogs that consume this human food will benefit from the fiber and carbohydrates popcorn contain. Popcorn makes a good and handy training treat for the pet. Dogs are food motivated and the sight of the popcorn on the hand of the master will entice the dog to follow the commands. Dogs are intelligent and cunning little and not so little animals!
Dog owners must know that there is always a possibility that the pet can have too much of a good thing. Dogs are known to have huge appetites and a bowl of popcorn will be gone in an instant! Large quantities of popcorn can cause diarrhea. Obesity is another concern that can develop if the pet is allowed to have a go at the big bowl of popcorn every night. The unpopped kernels that remain at the bottom of the bowl will still be consumed by the dog. This can have the dangerous effect of blocking the rectal passage especially in toy dogs.
